An interdisciplinary study, combining archaeological and historical research. The former included both the excavation of sub-surface remains and a survey of the fortress’s standing architecture, while the latter employs documents found primarily in the Ottoman archives in Istanbul, as well as many maps and plans of Aqkerman that have come down to us.
